Have your say at public hearing

THE South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) invites the public to a one day hearing to air views about how Transnet's developments have been and will affect the lives of thousands in numerous ways.

According to Des D'Sa of SDCEA, the topics that will be discussed include fishing and farming livelihoods, alleged unsustainable developments, Durban Dig out Port, expansion of the petro chemical industries, Clairwood community and the Back of Port plans, trucking, container depots and logistics, the biodiversity, endangered and indigenous flora and fauna, residential homes and the quality of life for people.

“Please join us in capturing the views and concerns of the public on the various issues that affect them currently and will do so in the future. There will be various experts and speakers to brief the topics before we allow the public to express their views. We intend on recording the grievances and their concerns around the various issues mentioned above and see how they can not only shape SDCEA’s campaigns for environmental and social justice but also to present those views in a collated document to President Jacob Zuma,” said D'Sa.

The hearing is on 21 March at Dennis Hurley Centre Hall, from 9am to 2pm.
