Enviro group plans picket

SOUTH Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) and the concerned public will be picketing outside the Durban Energy Office, Aqua Sky Towers Building, 274 Anton Lembede Street, Durban, to campaign for sustainable energy in South Africa.

The community is invited to join the picket on Friday, 21 September at 9am, to stand united against coal and nuclear energy and to campaign for renewable, clean energy.

Desmond D’Sa from SDCEA said: “With the latest Integrated Resource Plan out, there is concern that it does not effectively prepare South Africa to become part of the global transition away from fossil fuel to renewable energy. Renewable energy sources are a means of sustainable development. Renewable energy is not only an environmental necessity as it is better for the climate and environment, but is also an economic opportunity as it is more cost effective.”
