Security officers nab chair thieves

BLUE Security armed response officers arrested two suspects and recovered stolen goods at the weekend.

Media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said in the latest incident on 12 August, a response officer spotted a suspect with a large number of plastic chairs and a green rubbish bin in Mountain Rise Road in Carrington Heights at around 8.40am. “The officer was on a routine patrol in the area when he noticed the suspect with the allegedly stolen goods. He arrested the suspect and the goods were taken back to the property from where they had been removed,” Mathios said.

Mathios said a suspect, also carrying allegedly stolen chairs, was arrested at the intersection of Botanic Gardens Road and John Zikhali Road at around 7.05am on Saturday.

“An officer was driving along Botanic Gardens Road when he spotted the suspect carrying two chairs. When he stopped to investigate the suspect told him that he was taking the chairs to his aunt’s table at the market,” Mathios said. Upon further questioning it was established that he had taken them from a nearby business premises.
