DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is appealing to community for help in its investigation into a case of abduction, kidnapping, rape and assault.
According to Col Thembeka Mbhele from provincial SAPS, it is alleged that on 5 June at about 5.30pm, a 16-year-old girl took a taxi from Berea to Field Street.
“While the taxi was driving towards Field Street, passengers jumped out of the taxi and the victim was left with three people including the driver. She informed the driver that she was jumping off in Field Street, but the driver ignored her and drove away,” she said.
The taxi drove until they reached a house that looked like it was under renovation. The driver instructed the girl to jump out and with the assistance of two other men they raped her.
“The victim was kept in the house until the next day when she was released. Police believe the men in identikit they have can be of assistance in solving the case,” she said.
Mbhele said in another incident on 4 June at about 8pm, a 22-year-old woman was walking in Umgeni Road when she was approached by an unknown man.
“He acted as if he was directing her, and ended up raping her at the nearby railway station area. Police believe the man they have an identikit of can be of assistance in solving this case,” he said.
Anyone with the information of the whereabouts of the men is urged to contact Det Sgt ME Mkhize on 031 325 4526 or 0824660044 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
