SAPS seeks community help

DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit is appealing to the community for assistance with a case of kidnapping and sexual assault it is investigating.

According to Const Zanele Khomo from Durban Central, it is alleged that on 27 April at about 7pm, a woman took a taxi from Suncoast Casino to the market.

“She was with her friend and other passengers. When the victim was left alone in the taxi she asked to jump off by the market near the NMR taxi rank. The driver ignored the passenger and drove off. He took the off ramp to Mayville and parked in a dark place where he tried to rape the victim. The victim fought the driver until he drove at high speed to another place. He was joined by two other men who assisted in trying to rape the victim. Once again she fought back until they threw her out the moving vehicle,” she said.

Police believe the men they have identikits of can be of assistance in solving the case.
