ENTRIES are open for the Durban SPAR Women’s 10/5km Challenge, one of the most iconic women’s events on KZN’s sporting calendar. Bringing together women from all walks of life, the challenge takes place on Sunday, 24 June with its start in Masabalala Yengwa Avenue just outside the finish venue at the Jonsson Kings Park outer fields.
Now in its 29th year the race continues to appeal to participants of all ages and sporting levels. The 5km fun run/walk offers an opportunity for social runners and walkers to enjoy a relatively flat course, while the 10km, part of the national SPAR Grand Prix series, provides elite runners an opportunity to clock up points and move up the log with the overall cash prize of R185 000 in sight.
Race T-shirts and goodie bags are given to all entrants, and after completing the race, participants receive a breakfast pack. Afterwards there is time to relax and enjoy good company and great music on stage and win some fabulous lucky draw prizes.

Entries can be done online on www.sparwomensrace.co.za with both EFT and credit card payment options, or manually at Hall 6, Durban Exhibition Centre, off Walnut Road on Thursday, 21 and Friday, 22 June from 10am to 5pm, and Saturday, 23 June from 10am to 3pm.
For organisations and companies wanting to make bulk entries of more than 10 people, a team co-ordinator is required to contact [email protected], and details will be sent as to how to manage these entries. Once entries are successful, race packs and goodie bags will be delivered directly to the team co-ordinator.
“We are capping the overall race numbers at 17 500 for ease of access to the venue and to ensure excess numbers don’t detract from one’s enjoyment of soaking up the great Durban winter weather and the views along the beachfront. We look forward to once again welcoming so many amazing women who truly take advantage of the opportunity to achieve some lifestyle goals,” said Max Oliva, MD of SPAR KZN.
All details of the challenge can be found on the website www.sparwomensrace.co.za/durban or like the Facebook page KZN SPAR Women’s 10/5km.
