Residents connect on revived Glenwood website

Jacques and Chantell Badenhorst are excited about the launch of their Glenwood website.

RESIDENTS passionate about Glenwood have revived a website which  provides a forum to discuss issues affecting people living in the area.

Chantell and Jacques Badenhorst said they have wanted to work on the website for the past two years, after they saw a post on the Everything Glenwood Facebook page requesting someone take over the domain.

“Resident, Rob Hackenbruch previously owned the domain so we contacted him and said we would be keen to take it over. It sat dormant for four months while we were busy with other projects. It was very basic and we had to update it to get it up and running,” said Jacques.

Chantell said the idea behind establishing the site came after a Bulwer Safety and Urban Regeneration Forum meeting.

The couple work from home and the site is therefore manned all day.

“The site gives people in the community a voice, all they need to do is sign up, they don’t have to be on Facebook,” said Jacques.

“The main aim of the site is to bring the community together. If we stand together as a community we can do anything,” said Chantell.

Chantell and Jacques are passionate about the community and say they try to do a lot in the community.

The couple collected food hampers for staff of the Bulwer Service Station over Christmas in 2016 and they have fed the Bulwer Ambassadors, and their aim is to improve the area and bring people together.

Their background in technology is extensive, with Jacques having experience in fixing computers and anything electrical, and Chantell being a graphic and website designer, digital architect and social media fundi.
