Durban Surf Nippers romp to SA title

Captains Max Davidson and Tatum Botha hold up the winning trophy.

DURBAN Surf Lifesaving Club’s Nippers walked off with the SA title for the sixth consecutive year at the recent SA Nipper Lifesaving Champs.

In the Surf competition, held on PE’s Kings Beach, Durban Surf dominated the event. The club took title honours in the U9/10 and U11/12 age groups and placed third in U13/14 age group, thereby taking the overall Surf title by nearly 100 points from the second placed club, Fish Hoek.

In the Stillwater competition held at the Newton Park swimming pool, Durban Surf placed third overall behind two stillwater specialist teams from Gauteng. This enabled Durban Surf to also win the combined Surf/Stillwater title, amassing more than double the second placed club’s points.
