Hamper raffles raise funds for youth centre

At the handover are (back) Durban Child and Youth Care Centre's Nicolette Modicka (PR and fundraising) and Mandy Goble (Director), with (front) Vanessa Rhynes (Centre Manager at Glenwood Village) and Grace Downham (Durban Child and Youth Care Centre board member).

A FUNDRAISING drive by Glenwood Village centre manager, Vanesssa Rhynes, in aid of Durban Child and Youth Care Centre (DCYCC) over the Easter period raised R1400.

Rhynes arranged to raffle some Easter hampers sponsored by both Glenwood Super Spar and the centre itself.

There were three winners were delighted to receive their hampers, but an even more surprised Director, Mandy Goble, from DCYCC, who wasn’t aware of this initiative, was thrilled to receive the donation.

Mandy has been at the helm running this NPO for the past 29 years and never regrets a moment. She started as a social worker, and to date is now helping to develop youth and struggling teenagers who have a variety of challenges to face in their lives.

Despite the financial challenges, collectively the team, Nicolette Modicka, PR and fund manager and Grace Downham, a board member, have great plans to develop the centre further and offer more to the youth under their care.

To make this possible, you can help make a difference by making a cash donation, or donate non- perishable food items, sponsor a child, or become a volunteer.
