Festival of music and dance

Shika Harrypaul will perform a Kathak solo at the festival.

KALA Darshan will present SANKALP – the 4th annual festival of Indian classical music and dance – on 21 April at the Veda Mandir (ABH – Unit 6, Chatsworth) at 7pm.

Under the artistic directorship of Durban based Kathak artist, Shri Manesh Maharaj, SANKALP 2018 boasts an impressive line-up of artists.

Sankalp is currently the only festival of its kind in South Africa which highlights the soloist and incorporates all genres of Indian classical music and dance. It aims to transcend barriers and raise the standard of the Indian classical performing arts.

“Through this vision I have endeavoured to preserve the rich cultural heritage and legacy of music and dance thereby enriching the cultural soil of our community,” said Manesh.

This year’s intimate Mehfil style showcase aims to create a sense of immediacy between the performer and audience affording rasikas an artistic experience of the highest calibre.

Tickets priced at R70 will be available at the door prior to the performance. Contact 082 422 6865.
