Jumping for poppy awareness

Andrew du Toit, Richard Morgan and Rogan Brent will be three of the four sky divers who will parachute into Kingsmead Stadium on Saturday.

FOUR skydivers from the East Coast Display Skydive Team will be parachuting into the cricket on Saturday, 3 March on behalf of the SA Legion.

Victor Hansen, Andrew du Toit, Richard Morgan and Rogan Brent will land on the field at Kingsmead Stadium at 3pm on day three of the SA versus Australia test match to draw attention to the fact that the SA Legion is celebrating the centenary of the use of the poppy as the flower of remembrance.

Andrew has around 25 years skydiving experience and is a qualified skydive instructor. Richard has been skydiving for 15 years and is a qualified jump master and freefly coach, Rogan has between 15 and 20 years skydiving experience and is a qualified jump master and tandem master and Victor has around 15 years skydiving experience and is a qualified skydive instructor with a passion for demo skydiving and working with students.

The men, all of whom have around 75 years skydiving experience, have a Parachute Association of SA (PASA) Pro-rated license which allows them to organise and perform display skydives into public arenas.

They said they are looking forward to this Saturday’s demo skydive into Kingsmead Cricket Stadium.

Members of the SA Legion will be handing out flyers with information regarding the SA Legion and the poppy at the stadium on the day and will also have stick on tattoos available to create awareness.
