A SPECIALISED training programme called Hijack Awareness and Prevention is being offered to schools in the area.
The programme is aimed at Grade 11 and 12 pupils who are either going for their learner's license or who already have their learner'' and driver's licenses, although, teachers and parents are also welcome to attend.
The course covers basic safety tips (dos and don’ts), hijacking stats, hijacking tricks and attacking patterns, how to spot potential danger zones, safety routine to get out of a hijacking as safely as possible and awareness of your environment. It will be followed by a practical and real life adrenalin pumping simulated hijacking.
Shane Comley-White, 4th degree black belt and qualified bodyguard, said: “The programme runs for the duration of two hours, whereby we go through all the theoretical situations, statistics and information which could help someone or prevent someone finding themselves in this unwanted event. After the theory, we do practical scenarios with the students and what to do in these situations with the aim of teaching them to cope with both the stress as well as favorable outcomes with safety being the priority.”
