Search is on for cash-in-transit heist suspects

POLICE are currently searching for two armed men who fled after a cash in transit heist at Dube Village Mall earlier today. According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security, the guards were collecting money from Shoprite Checkers. As they were leaving, they were approached by two suspects armed with handguns who demanded the cash.

A tussle ensued during which a shot was fired and the guard was struck. The suspects fled in a Toyota Tazz which they abandoned around the corner and fled further on foot. The K9 units, SAPS and Marshall Security are currently combing the area for the two men who are still at large.

The guard who was shot in the right ankle has been treated and taken to hospital.
