THE KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union recently held its 26th Annual General Meeting at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead with emphasis on looking at the exciting prospects ahead of the Union and the stadium going into the new season starting in September.

From an administrative perspective, according to KZNCU President Fa-eez Jaffer, the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union is heading in the right direction following the recent appointment of new chief executive officer, Heinrich Strydom.

While the previous season might have been disappointing from a results perspective, with all sides in the union not achieving as highly as they would have liked, Jaffer says the union has plotted a way forward for the new season from a performance perspective.

“We need to develop a winning culture. The desire to play and perform for the Dolphins must be great and players like van Jaarsveld, van Wyk, Frylinck, Muthusamy, Erwee, Makhanya and Subrayen must continue to be noticed. We need to continue promoting our home grown talent,” Jaffer said.

He said positively, the team still had some players who were selected for higher honours, such as Keshav Maharaj, Andile Phehlukwayo, Khaya Zondo, Zakariya Paruk and Attie Mphosa.

New CEO for the KZNCU Heinrich Strydom was present at his first AGM and with all of the systems now officially in place is looking forward to the season starting in just over a month and a half.

“We had a good chat about the Geo-political alignment of districts within the Union going forward but from a cricketing perspective we discussed squads going into the season and also spoke about the excitement that is the T20 Global League. It is great that we are approaching the season and it is nearly all systems go,” said Strydom.
