Under the sea at charity high tea

WOMEN went to town dressing up to the theme 'Fantasea' at the annual fundraising high tea in aid of The Sunflower Fund on Friday.

Speaking at the event, Stephanie Berry from The Sunflower Fund thanked women for attending, saying the money raised from the event would enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness, and to educate and recruit more blood stem cell donors to increase the number of people registered on the South African Bone Marrow Registry.

“Through your attendance here today, you have helped pay for testing of new stem cell donors, and offered the hope of life to someone suffering from a chronic blood condition like leukaemia. Your DNA is your only chance of someone finding a match and surviving, and the bigger the base, the higher the chance of someone finding a donor match. People who speak about the Fund and attend events like this can really make a difference,” she said.

Women were treated to a morning of interesting guest speakers, live music performances and raffle draws. The sponosrs, Private Property, presented a further R5 000 cheque to Stephanie at the event.
