19 injured in taxi smash

NINETEEN people were injured after a taxi and a truck collided on the corner of Dr AB Xuma (Commercial) Street and Samore Machel (Aliwal) Street this morning.

According to Ceron Lennox from Rescue Care Paramedics, paramedics arrived at the scene at around 6.30am to find a taxi and a truck had collided leaving the vehicles badly damaged.

“A total of nineteen people sustained various injuries and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to hospital. Multiple ambulances were used to transport the injured,” she said.

Lennox said the cause of accident is under investigation.
