The scene of the accident in Berea on Sunday evening.

NINETEEN people were injured after a taxi and a car collided at the intersection of King Dinuzulu (Berea) Road and Botanic Gardens Road in Berea on Sunday evening.

According to Ceron Lennox from Rescue Care Paramedics, the taxi had veered off the road after the collision and crashed into a wall.

“One front seat passenger was severely entrapped in the wreckage and the Durban Fire Department was called to assist,” she said.

While fire fighters used the jaws of life to free the woman, advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise her inside the vehicle.
